This is John and he likes to build pretty stuff.

John started woodworking around the age of fifteen and has been making furniture ever since.  He enjoys the challenge of working with clients to create something original that will last for generations.  His favorite tool is a No. 62 Jack Plane. His favorite coffee is anything from Guatemala and looks like it was roasted by a hipster. His favorite ice cream flavor is Dirt from Brain Freeze Creamery in Spokane, WA, and his favorite time is now.

John and his wife Andi live in Spokane, WA with their two wonderfully curious labrador retrievers.

“It is an art and soul satisfying adventure to walk the forests of the world, to commune with trees… to bring this living material to the workbench, ultimately to give it a second life.” – George Nakashima

Wood for Good

Wood for Good Furniture builds furniture in harmony with the planet and the people on it.   Featuring the craftsmanship of John Chatburn, Wood for Good Furniture is located in beautiful Spokane, WA.

  • Good for the planet - wood is a renewable resource when sustainably harvested from managed forests.
  • Good for the community - dollars spent at a small business get reinvested in the community.  We each have a responsibility to leave the world better than we found it and Wood for Good donates a portion of its proceeds to charity.
  • Good for the long haul - solid wood furniture isn't something you replace, it's something you pass on to the next generation.
